Well, that was fun! (Update)

Holy crap! If you didn't attend one of the kick off meetings in Dallas or Fort Worth last night then you missed one hell of a party. I have heard from the staffers that there was up to 800 people at the Dallas event. We had at least 400 at the Tarrant event, which was double our max estimate. We ran out of food, chairs, campaign swag, signed up everyone and had a great time. A magical time. An Obama-rama time.

First off, if you are looking for an event to attend right now, try the TCU for Obama meetup at the Panther City Coffee House, 2918 W. Berry in Fort Worth, second floor. Starts at 8 pm.

More below the fold....

Ok, now about last night. I have to say thank you, thank you, thank you to all of the people who made the kick off meeting such a success. Mark Greene, Doreen, and all the Tarrant County Texans for Obama people are so dedicated, so inspiring, that it's contagious. I know, because as much as I am on the Obama bus, I am equally dedicated to this amazing group of people, fellow citizens who are prepared to give all they have to help bring about change.

And it's that dedication that has inspired me to do all I can to help Barack Obama win the Texas Primary March 4th and the nomination in August, all of which leads to the general in November. If you have never volunteered before, if you have always found politics dirty, a waste of your time, now is the time to have your mind changed and your world rocked.

This campaign isn't about Barack Obama, it's about you and me. We are the driving force here, after all it's our dollars fueling the campaign, not corporations, not lobbyists. It's our time and energy building it, and it's our voices coming together to show our fellow citizens that it can be better, that there is another way.

And there is a million ways to help. Me, I am doing what ever it takes to physically help the rallies, offices and events happen. Last night I coordinated the setting up and tearing down of all the seating and tables, and set up and ran the projector we used to stream primary results onto a big screen over the stage. I didn't ask for the job, I just showed up and started doing it. That's how it works, you don't need to have some "special skills", or even any grand ideas. Just show up at one of the offices or events and start doing something. Hell, you don't even need to do that (although we love seeing you!). You can help just by talking with friends and family. You can hold your own house party, your own meet-up, stand on the side of the road with a home made sign. Or write letters to the editor of your local paper. Just do something.

Oh, and I heard a rumor that there is an Arlington office opening soon at Pleasant Ridge and Green Oaks. Don't have an address yet.

Update- I almost forgot to say a giant thank you to Sandy Joyce and Mittee and everyone else at the East Fort Worth Montessori school for letting us use their facility Tuesday night and for cooking that wonderful spaghetti dinner. And they will be letting us invade their beautiful campus again this Saturday for Precinct Caucus training.
